Here is a simple Autumn tale reading and writing activity. Children can read the text and fill in the missing words. The answers are given in red on the next slide and the pictures around the colour border help children with the words they need. There is a blank border page where children can make up their own Autumn tale and use the pictures to help them. Alternatively, they can draw a picture of the Autumn tale or an Autumn picture of their own. There are also colour flashcards without words and colour flashcards with words that can assist children with their reading and writing.

This is a fun activity to share with your KS1 class. Give each child a copy of the activity sheet to fill in as you go along - there are 6 activities to complete. Share the PPT discussing each of the slides so that children are clear what to do. You can use a timer to make the activity more competitive or ask children to work in pairs. Children are asked questions without giving away the name of the object in the picture and they guess / or locate the answer on the grid. There are 3 sets of pictures which could be used as 3 different activities or as 1 depending on your children and their concentration levels. Here is a power point where, on the switch or click, a picture appears on the theme of music or musical instruments. Children can predict which letter is coming next and try to work out an instrument or musical term beginning with that letter. The alphabet from a to z is covered. Extend by sorting the instruments into woodwind, stringed, percussion, brass and electronic. Useful too, for cutting out for displays and visual aids.
